Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 18, 2026

1. Introduction

SQL-Shield (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a self-hosted database proxy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website (sql-shield.dev) and Docker-distributed software, and how we use it.

2. Information We Collect

We collect minimal data:

  • License Information: When you purchase a license, we store your email address, license key, and subscription dates.
  • Usage Analytics: Our website may use privacy-friendly analytics (page views, referrer) with no personal identifiers.
  • Trial Data: Trial start dates and expiry timestamps stored in your own Redis instance — we never access this data.

3. Self-Hosted Nature

SQL-Shield runs entirely on your infrastructure. All database queries, cached data, and performance metrics remain on your servers. We have zero access to your database traffic or cached content.

4. License Validation

License keys are validated locally against a signed token. No phone-home requests are made to our servers during normal proxy operation. License metadata (customer name, expiry) is embedded in the key itself.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. Payment processing is handled by trusted providers (e.g., Stripe) under their own privacy policies.

6. Cookies

Our website uses only essential cookies (e.g., session management). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

7. Data Retention

License records are retained for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent for data processing
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

9. Security

All communication with our website is encrypted via TLS. License keys use HMAC-signed tokens. Source code is distributed as compiled PHAR archives to protect intellectual property.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
